Artificially Natural
‘Artificially Natural’ showcases the divide between the city and nature. My project explores the juxtaposing and harmonious relationship between the natural and man-made. Focusing on the structural, textual and colour properties of the subjects. Taken at London’s Crossrail Place Roof Garden, a looming sense of human intervention is prevalent within the images. Despite creating the illusion of being surrounded by nature, it is difficult to ignore that the ‘natural elements’ have been artificially placed there. Throughout creating this project, one question kept repeating itself: will this be the only way in which we interact with nature, as cities and urban areas inevitably grow?
